CASTING CALL – PIT BULLS – Cincinnati Pet Photographer

We need pit bulls…and lots of ‘em.

We are beginning work on a new project that will raise money for pit bull rescue as well as hopefully shed some true light on this very misunderstood breed…and we need your pitties!  We are looking for 30-40 pit bulls and/or pit mixes to be photographed over the next several months.  Here are the details…

Session Info

  • All sessions will be shot at a location of your choice (limit one location).
  • Sessions will run approximately 30 minutes, unless more time is necessary to make your dog comfortable.
  • Due to time constraints, sessions cannot be combined, unless you have more than one pit living in the same home.
  • We highly encourage you to appear in the photos with your pit(s), but it is by no means a requirement.
  • If you have kids, we really really really want them to be in some of the photos with the pit(s) as well.  Remember, we want to change some minds with this project.
  • We are charging a nominal fee of $50.  This will be used to cover our time and travel expenses.

Photo Info

  • Your dog’s photos will be loaded into a private online gallery within a week of your shoot and remain up for 2 weeks.
  • For participating, you will receive one free 8×10.  (This is per session.  i.e. If you have two pits and only do one session, you will only receive one free 8×10.  If you book two sessions, you will receive a free 8×10 from each session.)
  • During the 2 weeks that your gallery is up, you may purchase any additional prints and items that you would like, but you are not required to make a purchase.

Project Info

  • We are not sharing all the details of our project just yet.
  • 100% profits raised from this project will go to Pit Bull Rescue Central a national pit bull rescue and advocacy group.
  • Only your dog’s first name will appear in this project.  None of your personal information will be shared.

Other Fine Print

  • You will be required to sign a model release in order to participate.
  • Participation in these sessions does not guarantee that your dog will be featured in the project.

So if you want to be a part of this, please email us at info@lovemutts.com or fill out a contact form on our contact page.

I can’t wait to start photographing all those pretty pitties!

CIRCLE TAIL EVENT – Cincinnati Pet Photography

We will be at Circle Tail this Sunday, June 27th from 12-4 for their Open House and Reunion Event.  There will be lots of other great vendors as well as some awesome demonstrations with the Circle Tail service dogs.

For those of you who don’t know who Circle Tail is, they are a non-profit organization that trains service dogs and then gives them to people who need them free of charge.  They do not buy or breed any of their dogs.  They adopt from shelters and are given dogs from breeders as donations.  They also function as a rescue and the majority of their dogs that are available for adoption are trained through their prison training program.  Overall, we feel that Circle Tail does a great job of caring for all of God’s creation…both humans and animals alike.  That is why we think this group is so great!

So join us on Sunday at Circle Tail’s Open House.  Also, when you make a $10 donation to Circle Tail, we will give you a $50 gift certificate towards a regular private session.  For more details on the event, click here.  And for detour driving instructions, click here.

We hope to see you there!!!

INTRODUCING BREED OF THE MONTH – Cincinnati Pet Photographer

We at Love Mutt Photography believe in animal rescue.  Because of this we are introducing a new and exciting program.  Each month, we will focus our rescue efforts on a specific breed.  We call it “Breed of the Month“.  For each standard private session in which the breed of the month is photographed, we will make a donation to a breed specific rescue.  We will select reputable rescues and make a $25 donation from each session and an additional donation equal to 25% of any resulting print sales.

We will begin in July with greyhounds.  The rescue being supported is Queen City Greyhounds.  So if your furbaby is a greyhound, support greyhound rescue and get some one-of-a-kind photos of your lazy racer.  Start booking now!

1ST PET PHOTOGRAPHY CLASS – Cincinnati Pet Photography

Today was our first ever Pet Photography 101 class held at the SPCA.  Being our first class, it was a small crowd…but we had fun, learned some new things, and snapped a few photos of some really cute dogs.  Here are some of our favorite shots that we took with our point & shoot camera…

This is dog 347.  He’s a very mellow shih tzu mix.  If you are looking for a small k9 who will occasionally not listen to a word you say…then look no further!

This is dog 902.  She is a very sweet boxer mix.  She’s recently had pups and seems to know basic commands.  She would make a great addition to your home!

If you are interested in these or any other rescue dog, please visit the Sharonville SPCA.  For a full listing of available pets, click here.

Update:  Dog 347 has been adopted!!!

PET PHOTOGRAPHY 101 – Cincinnati Pet Photographer

Have you ever wondered how to take better photos of your pets?  Well here’s your opportunity!

We are offering two beginners pet photography classes this summer at the SPCA in Sharonville. We will go over the basics of lighting, composition, and some basic tips on how to get your pet to cooperate while you’re shooting.

These classes are for the point and shoot shooter.  We will not be teaching you how to use an SLR.  This is simply an opportunity to learn how to make your photographs better and is by no means a replacement for professional photography.

Our first class is being held on Saturday, June 19 from 10am – 12pm.  Cost is $40.  Make a $10 donation to the SPCA and your cost will be $30.  No registration necessary.  We simply ask that you arrive 15 minutes before the class begins in order to get signed-in.

Be sure to bring your point and shoot camera.  But please DO NOT bring your pets.  We will be practicing on the animals at the SPCA.  Maybe the photo you take will end up on that pet’s petfinder page and help find them a new home!

This photo was taken with a point and shoot camera.  It can be done.

DOG DAYS – Cincinnati Pet Photography

Yesterday we spent the afternoon on Main Street in Over the Rhine for Second Sundays on Main.  The theme was “Dog Days”.  And there were a lot of dogs that came out with their humans to enjoy the festivities.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by our booth to say “hello”.  We enjoyed meeting you all.

These 2 greyhounds are available for adoption.  If you’re interested…contact Queen City Greyhounds.

This lil pittie pup was by far one of the cutest dogs we saw all day!

It always cracks me up when I see a family with one giant dog and one itty bitty dog.  This was no exception.

ACCELERATED CURE – Cincinnati Pet Photography

A few months ago, we were approached to donate a session for a pet calendar to raise money for the Accelerated Cure Project.  ACP is a non-profit organization that raises money for Multiple Sclerosis.  While a lot of the time we donate are for pet related charities…we are completely dedicated to the betterment of all living beings.  So we couldn’t think of a better way to use what we love to help raise money that will hopefully help find a cure for a horrible disease.

We photographed Mojo, Frieda, & Shiva.  All three belong to Peggy Shannon, owner of Queen City Cookies, and all three get to have their gorgeous faces grace a month of the 2011 ACP calendar.  Here are some of our favorite shots!  (I apologize for the dullness in color.  I accidentally saved them with the wrong color profile and was too lazy to go back and fix them all.)
